Since the dawn of man, sight and visual representation (visualization) have played a significant, central role in the understanding of information. Of all the human sensory organs, the eye has the highest bandwidth for absorbing information. This fact is supported by the old saying "A picture is worth a thousand words". While the goal of visualization in the "classic" sense is the purposeful transformation of data into a visible image to support the human person in their exploration, identification and interpretation of structures and processes, the goal of machine vision is to perform these tasks by means of intelligent electric eyes. That means that the machine determines the field of view, identifies structures and processes and interprets them. |
